Football Summer Transfer Window

I'm sure that is why Harry Tyrer was signed in January.

My Danish is a bit ropey but I think it's basically saying this

Nathan Trott has so far rejected offers from Cardiff City, who have a valid purchase option on him after the weekend's promotion to the Championship. The English goalkeeper will look at his options after a successful season and is open to a return to FC Copenhagen.

Pretty much what you'd expect from someone in a strong negotiating position.
I'd be delighted if he stays but the club need to balance it with the bigger picture and not just sign him whatever the cost

People just naively assume because option to buy agreed that it would automatically happen.

I think that's speculation more than anything - open to returning to a club who loaned him out, agreeing a fee? More likely it's as you say, put himself in shop window this season, considering options.

We signed a keeper from Everton, who when out on loan kept a fair number of clean sheets - so not like we don't have depth, especially with Turner as well. I'd play Tyrer rest of the season. We need to see what he can do, it's also a good sign to Trott that if he is wavering, doesn't want to be here, we're happy to move on.

The player always has a say but if he's happy to be here we have an agreed price option

Aye but Trott and his agent in a strong position to play the field. I'm sure he'd be happy here but if he can get significantly more elsewhere then good luck to him.

Of course he can play the field but if that's what he's going to do let's not waste time on him. BBM is the reason his downward career did a u turn and as good as he's been for us I don't see him getting much above our level of club on one good season in League 1. Yes he's put himself in the shop window but there's not many managers who would encourage him to go out and play his natural game with freedom.

All up to him and the club to sort out but players either want to be here or they don't.

They're only ITKs if I like what they say so Trotts staying in my view

I did think given our squad needs that it was a very strange transfer at the time.

Don't disagree but only the club and his agent will have a feel if they're acting in good faith. Anything you read in the paper or social media could easily be bullshit or spin from one side or the other.

There's also the chance that whatever lightning struck here won't strike elsewhere - must be a concern. Obviously if you can go from 10k a week to 20k a week that's less of a concern but say you've got an offer of 10k with us and maybe 12k with someone like Wolves it has to be a bit more of a thought.

Being settled can be massive.

He's fully entitled to play the field, no?

Same way you or I do looking for new jobs.

Completely agree. Can't blame them for seeing what they might get and then making an informed decision. Depends how serious other clubs are about pursuing him. He's been a fantastic loan but he has to weigh up his future.

How the hell he was behind Runnarson at Copenhagen I don't think I'll ever understand

Of course he is, I just don't want a summer of will he won't he as I don't need the stress.

It's all just itk stuff anyway but we'll still talk about it all the same
