I always wonder how highly rated these are when they come to us.

We've a decent enough hit rate - Bagan being the prime example - but if their clubs don't want them I wonder what we see in them. I'd heard of Machin at least and this lad has undoubtedly had a good season by the looks of those stats but I do wonder how we find them in the first place and how we pry them away from their clubs if their clubs want to keep them.

Guess you've got to find the players the big clubs think are marginally not good enough and hope they'll come good. Great a season as Bagan has had he wouldn't be breaking through in a prem club and he had a fair few appearances here before shining this season

If they help polish the gems we are producing ourselves, by being better than the rest, then it's a win, win situation.

And sometimes can get a player like McGuinness and fleece another club by selling them on. Thanks Luton!

He's got a couple of full caps for RoI since then. Daland was his replacement at City, but I know who is the better defender.

New name I think

Cardiff City will have to cough up £3 million if they are to sign reported summer target Elliot Watt.

The midfielder has been a crucial part of Motherwell‘s success this season, with their fourth place finish in the Scottish Premiership securing them a place in the UEFA Conference League qualifying stages.

Bluebirds Face Hefty Price For Target

With Cardiff now in the Championship after finishing second in League One, well clear of the chasing pack but some distance behind runaway champions Lincoln City, Brian Barry-Murphy’s attention has now turned to recruiting new players for the step up.

Names have already been floated, with Reading stalwart Charlie Savage believed to be a reachable target after the Reading Chronicle reported that the Bluebirds were the leaders in the chase for the Welsh international

Now, according to journalist Andy Devlin, a new midfield option has emerged in Motherwell’s Elliot Watt less than 12 months after leaving Burton Albion behind to move back to his native Scotland.

His report states that the Fir Park side are asking for £3 million for the 26-year-old, who is also courting interest from Premiership heavyweights Celtic and Rangers, with the latter’s interest stemming back to January.

Could this have legs with Turnbull involved to part fund? Don't know if true but hear fan chat that Turnbull wants to go back to Scotland.
However, is £3m for real when Burton and Salford were this Watt's previous stomping grounds?
