I can't say he's someone I've ever heard of beforehand, but his stats this season are top notch for a centre midfielder.

Averaging a 7.5 match rating across the season, 6 goals and 3 assists however this is in the SPL and in the relegation bracket at that so it does depend on how you view the strength of the Scottish league. He has also had 8 yellows and a red in his last game though.

Even doing something as basic as cross-checking how games like FM/FIFA have him rated (I know they're video games but it's one of the best resources you can have comparing players across nations) he comes out at about the same level as David Turnbull or a worse Ryan Wintle.

I would be more on the cautious side given who he's played for beforehand but BBM has earned more than enough trust to pick the most random players (if this rumour is even true) for me.
