I went to the one in Liskeard when I was on holiday in Cornwall, that was about 15 yrs ago by the standards of back in those days it was massive

Does the heddlu check messageboards?

I can see it now, “oh guv, some bloke called Mad Al talking about buying a sig sauer in Merthyr, shall I send the counter terrorism squad in?”

Any air rifle that is made to mimic a high caliber rifle will be complete shite. You’re paying for the look, not power or accuracy.

This is a 40 year old Webley and Scott; at the legal limit of 12ft/lb and with the decent sight can kill a rabbit with a headshot at 60 metres. I use it daily to control vermin on my farm. Anything edible goes in the pot.

More importantly than the power, is the skill of the marksman. Always be sure of a clean shot to dispatch the prey instantly. If you’re a bit shit, don’t risk the shot. A good quality sight is the most important thing after knowing your own limitations.

I've got a 50 year old Diana series 70 .22 rifle and it's powerful as fuck. I like the look of those new repeater rifles though, be fun for target shooting.

For the serious stuff I've got a few high powered compound and recurve bows, an 80lb draw recurve used with broadheads will put an arrow straight through a man .

I agree, they look great and bloody realistic. Ideal for the little chavvy gangsters that go around terrorising neighbourhoods. Carry one in public and you’ll have a firearms officer’s red dot on your chest before you know it.

Unfortunately, the shape and design of a high caliber rifle doesn’t translate well to an air rifle.

You’re much better of with a traditional shaped / long barrelled version for hunting or target shooting.

Now that’s something I’d like to try for hunting. Always fancied getting a decent bow but never really got round to it. Great for home security though!

Yeah be mad to carry one on the street, not allowed to hunt with my bows anymore, laws in uk banned bow hunting, just do target shooting now with the compound bow and the more powerful recurves have become ornaments sadly, even archery clubs won't allow bows that powerful to be used.

My neighbours got loads of guns, he's properly licensed, coppers visit his house once a year, but he's terrified of my high powered recurves, he can't draw back the 120lb one.

Really? I find it odd that they’d ban a weapon that is more powerful and likely to dispatch an animal more humanely. I suppose it’s the same as when they introduced the legal limit for air rifles. There must be loads of muppets maiming animals with crappy underpowered weapons.

Why won’t archery clubs let you use them?

Bows with an 80lb draw or more are basically war bows and frowned upon by some clubs because of their power, you know, they'll say it's unnecessary for target archery.

I might have to get myself one and give it a go.
My lad is a bit fan of shooting, he’d love to try something like that.
You'll both love it, if you've got a bit of land to use for archery it's great fun.

any rambo knives?

Well I know now who I’ll be voting for in next years oocc awards “poster most likely to kill you with a bow and arrow”

A crossbow is the best for that sort of mission.
