Did anyone see it around midnight? I heard about it online but went out to look just now (12.45am) and there was nothing to see but apparently it's been sighted as far south as Cornwall

No.
Our resident astronomer failed to mention it, otherwise I would’ve stayed up and gone outside to look.

It probably would have been hard to see in Cardiff. Light pollution and think there was a fair bit of cloud around yesterday

The pictures people show on social media are usually massively exaggerated. Capturing colours you can't see with the naked eye and then putting them through filters etc. Proper photographers use long exposures etc too capture things nobody can actually see

No look here now boys, aurora you cant predict, it is unusual to get it at this time of the year when most of the solar activity would be at the southern pole.

Its hit and miss see.
When the atmosphere at the poles get full of solar energy they snap, like an elastic band, sending waves through the air.

I dont pretend to be a font of all knowledge, unlike some golfers on here :hehe:

The news has been predicting them for a few days since the large solar flare eruption.

Don't you monitor solar flare activity?

Only way back from this is for @Nugent to pay for us all to have a trip to the artic circle.

Give Greenland a swerve, Iceland would be nice.

Love a visible aureola

Thought this was an Italian player signing for us. :hehe::coat:
