Warnock has said on numerous occasions that he needed five or six players to supplement his current squad.
With four new players already signed, then if he is true to his word, we can expect just another two signings.
However in the past Warnock has always understated the number of signings he intends making. In my opinion I think we could end up with seven or eight new signings.
He has still to sign any central midfielders; we probably need at least two more. A right-back must also be a priority and probably a striker to compete with Zohore. What do you reckon?

Queen to Rook 5

Two loans imo

Grujic & AN Other

I'm struggling to fit all our players into a squad as it stands

I think we’re ok at full back. I reckon two more, a midfielder (hopefully Snodgrass) and a striker and we’ll be looking good.
Obviously things will change if Gunnar leaves and if we sell the likes of Tomlin, Pilks, Bogle etc

What's great is that the Bobby Reid deal came from nowhere.

The leaks and "updates" have well and truly dried up

Warnock always talks down the number of signings he wants, and the size of the budget he will have for fees and wages. But with the approach to recruitment so far I hope the wages are all easily within the ceiling set by the club.

He said a few weeks ago that Bournmouth had signed a player that cost the equivalent of our whole transfer budget. Unless I have missed something they have shipped out Max Gradel, had a £10m bid for Chris Mepham rejected, and agreed a fee with Sheffield United for David Brookes worth £11-12m. We have already spent about £28m on the 4 new players!

Warnock knows how to play the media and manage expectations.

I expect Gunnar and Brian Murphy to sign new contracts and Marco Grujic to come back (Warnock has been talking to him while he's been with the Serbia squad as well as Cardiff talking to Liverpool). On top of that I expect at least one more midfielder - and further signings based on which of the contracted players leaves.

A lot of people are still talking about another striker and a right back. I think that will depend on how much confidence Warnock has in Madine and Richards. If you take him at his word the answer is 'a lot' - but again, what he says isn't always what he's thinking.

I think your assessment is spot on.
However our left-back options look much more promising than right-back, even allowing for Richards being fully fit.

Spot on about Warnock having the ability to manage expectations. The last thing you want is a manager saying they've got a huge Premier League budget to spend and a billionaire owner backing them, every agent they talk to thereafter would be rubbing their hands together.

Bobby Reid can play midfield/CF and probably be useful as a stand in striker so I don't think we will sign another one.
If Reid is moved to replace Zohore then Murphy is capable of covering in behind him, NML can come in to play on the wing (if Murphy is first choice over NML)
Hoilett/Murphy/NML all capable of playing both wings..

I reckon a CM and a right back.

I'm not convinced by Jazz. Peltier will fight for every ball but we need a bit more than that. Bruno will be found out top level at right back so yeah a right back. Of much more concern is some passing ability center midfield. That could go down to the wire though because everybody wants one. Well happy so far though.

We’re starting to get quite a few options, especially in attack.

I’d say the only players guaranteed to start the first game would be Bamba, Morrison, Hoilett and Zohore.

You could make a case for almost every other player.
Etheridge or Smithies
Bennett or Cunningham
Jazz, Pelts or Manga
Murphy or NML
Reid or Paterson
Gunnar, Ralls, Damour or (Grujic / AN other)

I like Patterson, but if we have Reid as an option there it should be a non contest.

I really think we need an experienced premier league central midfielder, preferably on loan, who can get the best out of Reid, Murphy and Zohore.

And when i say right back in being a little greedy. I think Jazz will cope if fit..but if we're spoiling ourselves I'd rather the hole plugged..

I'd sooner take 2 CM rather than 1 cm and one RB..

I wouldn’t call it a non contest as they are different types of players which will suit different opposition and could even play together if Reid ends up being used as a striker. Obviously it all depends on how NW intends us to play.

A nice country pile just outside of Cowbridge, so I understand.

It should be a non contest though, we never had anyone to play that role last year when Tomlin went so we tried Patterson on there.
I agree it worked but let's be honest it shouldn't be what we aim to do next year.
