BBC admitted there is a cost consideration but made a good argument that with so many games so far away and so spread out (and an ignorant insular population in the main host country - my addition) then they wouldn't really get a world cup buzz and it would cost an absolute fortune. They still have roving reporters for atmosphere etc though
