Also, this isn't me stating a fact, this is me questioning one

Despite video evidence, why on earth is the FA Cup 1927 winning goal classed as a goal scored by Hughie Ferguson when it really should've been counted as a Dan Lewis own goal?

They never had a dubious goals panel then:hehe:

I've never been able to find out if this is true or not (I suspect not), but someone once told me that the distance from the back of the Bob Bank (before the roof was built) to the front of the Bob Bank was the biggest in the League (i.e. the Bob Bank was the deepest stand).

I always suspected places like The Valley may have been bigger. Has anyone heard this before?
I've seen this somewhere too that the bob bank was the deepest terrace in the league at one time.

Phil Dwyer was knocked unconscious at a game at Gillingham in 1975. Some radio stations gave the sad news that Dwyer had died. However, Dwyer's life was saved by the physio Ron Durham who used mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Dwyer, in true style, was back in action the following Saturday.
I was there and remember it well, although we didn't realise the seriousness at the time, that day we'd spent most of the first half fighting with Gillingham fans as we took over their end behind the goal, a regular thing with football fans back in the 70's.

Lewis was Welsh and got dogs abuse off the Arsenal fans after that (Some things never change eh?) with accusations he'd done it on purpose and his career never really recovered.

Anyway, Lewis blamed his brand new Jersey for causing the ball to slip away and this started a tradition at Arsenal whereby new goalkeeper's shirts are always washed before use, which I believe continues to this day.

I remember going to Ron Durham's place back in the 70's. He treated me for sciatica.

We are the only Welsh side to progress furthest in a European competition to the semis in the cup winners cup in 67.

Have you ever seen the goal that knocked us out? I saw it on a Cardiff documentary and bloody hell it's 100% one of the luckiest strikes you'll see

Yep our keeper spilt it into the net the guy that struck it was one of the most prolific strikers in Germany Uwe Seeler I dont think if we reached the final we would've beaten AC Milan they had a great team in the 60s.

1997-98. Cardiff drew 23 of their 46 Division 3 games. It was dire stuff.
Hartlepool another team in same division also drew 23 of the 46. It was dire stuff indeed.

The rules are the same now.
If the original shot is on target, itll get given to the player who shot, whether it went in off a defender or a keeper.

Only if the shot is off target and then finds it's way in the goal is it an official own goal

Rick Wright's brother won a small fortune in 1992-3. He had a bet on the winners of the four divisions (which included Cardiff in Division 3).

That season, Cardiff were promoted with Wrexham, Barnet and York. Wrexham and Barnet are now in the "Conference", and York are a division lower (Conference North).
Remember this well. He had placed a treble on Newcastle Div1, Stoke Div 2 and City Div 3 winners. Apparently it was a 1k bet, that if successful would be slightly over 500k, 500k at that time was Ladbrooks max pay out, but the bookies pre agreed to pay out if it come in. And it did.

Didn't he pay for cardiff to stay in a hotel in scunthorpe that weekend to give them the best possible chance?
This was at a time when the players used to travel on the day.

True story/fact.

When tony tit used to run the official supporters bus, we went to Wrexham away in the late 90s for a qtr final match in that shitty fa wales premier cup thing.

He couldn't get enough for a bus so 5 of us went in his estate car.

About a hour from the ground, the police rang him and asked for how many numbers are travelling.

His reply was "not only can I tell you how many are coming, I can give your thier names and addresses".

Could this game have been Cardiff's lowest away attendance?

He was adamant we weren't paying to get in, so he collared the players bus as it arrived and Wayne o Sullivan gave us tickets.
There were probably 20 people in our stand.

Yeah but come on, there's a keeper getting a touch on the ball and then there's the keeper catching it cleanly, holding it for 1 or 2 seconds and then dropping it in :hehe::hehe:

It could have been longer than 2 seconds too, footage in those days was usually sped up a tad.

Cardiff City FC, was originally a cricket club.

Riverside cricket club decided they wanted to give the lads something to do in the winter so formed Riverside football club, later to become Cardiff City FC

I remember that season I went to every game. I thought it was early 90s rather than late but checked and you were bang on.

Cardiff rugby players used to come to Ninian park for treatment from Ron, Mike England was never happy about that apparently.

The first ever game at the CCS was a friendly between Cardiff City and Celtic, it was played in memory of Jock Stein
