Ability, yeah. But remember some of our lads from the lower league days.

All good leaders, and some were decent footballers too.
Leggy too. Great leader

Yeah, anyone of those would have made a difference, if not through ability, but drive. There's loads we've forgotten. Boyle and Mike Ford from the 80s.

Sometimes you need someone like that just for the leadership qualities. But, Leggy could play a fair bit too.

A player like him barking orders, demanding standards but knowing what they're on about would probably have been enough to have kept us up this season

he'll be wearing a balaclava

Could be Lector though:shrug2:

Don't think that's a balaclava...

None of those sort in modern day football

Yeah - but we need a few. And ones who can do 46 games.

Ralls is always getting knocked on here, but I wonder how many of our 9 wins he played in, and how many of our many losses he didn't.
Joe Ralls participated in three of Cardiff City’s nine Championship victories during the 2024–25 season. Here’s a breakdown of those matches:
  1. October 1, 2024 – Cardiff City 1–0 Millwall
Ralls started the match and played the full 90 minutes in central midfield.
  2. January 18, 2025 – Cardiff City 3–0 Swansea City
He was in the starting lineup and completed the entire match.
  3. January 25, 2025 – Cardiff City 2–1 Derby County
Ralls started and played the full 90 minutes.

In the other six league wins, Ralls was either not in the matchday squad or remained an unused substitute.

Bet Colwill played in more:thumbup:

It's not even an apology, making it out like it was out of his control.

Think it's hard to come down on either side of the Ralls argument with those figures. By the standards of Cardiff City 24/25, Ralls qualifies as a dressing room leader in my book, but for all of the good things I've heard about his character and the likes of O'Dowda, Rinomhota and Alnwick, we still deservedly finished bottom of the Championship this season - I think someone like a Kav, a Gunnar or a Hudson might make a big difference to what seems from the outside to have been a pretty toxic dressing room.

A big step would be to get characters or a strong person in defence and a commanding keeper.
Or some may say get the spine of the team sorted.
We definitely need a keeper centre back and a partner for Salech who doesn't get injured everytime he rolls over in bed.

I think some of these lads will benefit from playing in a lower league where we should be winning a bit more regularly too. They need leaders, but we have none.

I hope so, my only worry with some of the ones coming through is that they’re not quite there physically yet. We don’t seem to be blessed with great athletes compared to some other clubs.

Out of all the talent coming through, I think Troy Perrett has the most upside and is the most likely to make an impact at senior level.

I quite like Lawlor as well.
Conte has something to offer.

Always been one who defends Ralls God knows he's taken some stick from the the uneducated among our fan base .But unless he's going to be among the coaching staff I don't think it's feasible to give him a contract his injuries have been a major factor in his absentee for a lot this season .Robinson is another.but as I stated earlier Robinson will.be off as league one is beneath him .

Robinson is a bit of a luxury type player.
He is likeable but we can't afford to carry players particularly those on big wages.

Our defence could have done with a Terry Boyle this season
