Football Dai Hunt

Mad as a balloon but a real character and a bluebird to his core.
RIP Dai

If anyone deserves a tribute on Wednesday it's him.

The amount of our players over the years who have known him must be quite staggering
How many of those were against their wishes though?

My first experience of him direct was standing next to him at an away game years ago. Watford or Reading I think. No idea who he was and as pissed as I was I had to move as he was doing my head in. I later learned I had stood next to the myth and the legend.

RIP

I remember running onto the pitch when we got promoted v Reading in 2018, first person I come across was Dai, he grabbed me and give me a big snog. Proper character, City in his blood.

Hopefully it was natural causes, and not something else.

He did look quite lonely when I saw that video of him in his house.
Annoyed me that video, it seemed like that Central Club bloke was using Dai just to take the piss.

RIP Dai only 67 things will never be the same again

Thirty minutes after it being posted on facebook I've seen more nice positive things said about him than in 50+years of following the club.

Nice to see so many replies to the post though

Bloke was a whopper but as Cardiff fans go there's none more dedicated - best to remember that than the other stuff.

Love the legend about him responding to a call to do the ayatollah on his moped, obliging and crashing into a roundabout

I'm tempted to go to the funeral and shout dogs abuse at the bearers, just to keep a tradition going. Big shoes to fill

With all due respect, why? He was a shitty human being - sure there have been a lot worse in the world, but his behaviour was enabled by people downplaying it. "Ah, passionate City fan, just a bit eccentric".

He's somebody that was clearly failed by the system, from a mental health perspective and his behaviour faced few if any consequences - club could and should have issued a life ban.

Sad he's dead, but he harassed a lot of people over a long timeframe.

The fact that his last "media" was that tosser Cullan exploiting him should get people angry.

He didn't.

Used to know the fanzine guy, Thin Blue Line. Was chatting to him, Dai came over and was asked about it.
His response was "never happened, but sounds good".
That's why I used the word legend. Doubtful it was true but apophrycal

It's a difficult one.

I didn't know him personally, only through supporting the City - and through that there were none more dedicated which should be celebrated.

Yet, the bloke was at times supposedly a creep. However, he was clearly mentally ill and like you say, clearly failed by the system and probably should've been banned.

There's also an element of "is it too soon" to it all as well.

I'd say given how recent it is by all means celebrate the positives but don't forget the negatives - I think a few ladies in the ticket office will be somewhat relieved.
