It's been diluted because of the saturation coverage of every live game now shown on Sky.
Back when I was a kid Cup final day was the only football fixture that started at 10 in the morning and ended at 6 in the evening,with all the razzmatazz that went with the biggest fixture in the football calendar.
Sky has ruined football in this country is my opinion.

I haven't watched the champions league apart from the final for about 15 years. Used to be crucial viewing when it was on ITV.
