Food hygiene ratings

For what it's worth, the rating also used to include punctuality of submitting their paperwork.

So a spotless, lab style sterile clean restaurant, but with limited English could be marked a 0 or 1 if they failed to submit their documents / on time.

True fact from a source at their offices. This was a few years ago, so hopefully now takes this into account.

The intention of the scheme is a brilliant thing though IMHO.

If that is ironed out now, then it is a fair reflection of the eaterie.
..and if you are slack with your probing, fridge temperatures, wearing the wrong clothes, have the wrong extractor fan ect ect :hehe:

Yes, he has gone from a 2 to a 3 since I've been there :warnock: :hehe: I'm not even going to go in to the fun and games we had the day the health inspector came :hehe:

These food hygiene ratings are great and must have raised the standards across the board.

My favourite Indian suddenly had a zero rating recently. They're up to a 4 now but we're still reluctant to go there.

In England it's not compulsory to display your hygiene rating so you only ever see 4 or 5 star stickers.
I'm always wary of those that choose not to display their sticker.

The 'scores on the doors' app is pretty good. The Chinese in Taffs Well had a 3 star sticker on their door for a while despite the app saying they were only 2 stars...
