GKs:
Trott - 8/10. Dip in form in the middle of the season, but some fantastic hands on him and good short distribution. Definite re-sign for me.
Turner - 5/10. Barely played but did well enough when called in.
Tyrer - 6/10. Barely played but played slightly better than Turner when called in.
RBs:
Ng - 8/10. Stalwart of the team and came up with some very important goals over the season.
Kpakio - 5/10. Shaky defensively, and I'm not convinced he's a fullback. Notable though that when he has played he's had minimal support from his winger. One for the loan list IMO.
LBs:
Bagan - 9/10. Strong case for player of the season for me. Great both defensively and offensively and we were very lucky he didn't get injured for a long period of time.
Scanlon - 5/10. Barely played, did well enough in his limited appearances. Thought he'd get more appearances at left back than he did in the end.
CBs:
Fish - 8/10. Defensively solid, with a phenomenal range of passing to him. Part of our best centre half pairing with Lawlor.
Lawlor - 8/10. As above, but slightly more mistake prone, but I put this down to playing his long balls more across the floor to the wing whereas Fish lofts them.
Chambers - 7/10. Had a mistake in him but on the whole was very reliable at left centre half, which is a difficult position for a right footer.
Osho - 5/10. Not an ideal start to his Cardiff career, however never truly got a proper run in the team to get settled thanks to BBM's tinkering. One I'd expect to do better in the Championship next year.
CMs:
Wintle - 9/10. My player of the season - very noticeable how much poorer we were without him playing which says it all.
Turnbull - 6/10. Another victim of the curse of rotation who couldn't get settled. Yet to see the repertoire of long range strikes he showed in Scotland, but a very clever passer of the ball. One who keeps a good team ticking over as opposed to one who'll change a game, and another who I think will do better in the Championship due to his skillset.
Robertson - 7/10. Strong season and battled well I'm midfield, but almost too much. Multiple times this season we had to waste a sub before half time due to his indiscipline hence the low rating.
J. Colwill - 7/10. Very industrious but sometimes something lacking in his end product. Reminds me of prime Ralls in the way he rats around the middle of the park. Clearly has very significant potential and will likely only improve.
R. Colwill - 9/10. The most creative player in the side and when utilised properly ran games for us this year - also noticeable that when he went down we had a significant slump in form. Has promised to come good for a number of years now, and this year showed his best in a Cardiff shirt.
LWs:
Willock - 7/10. Blew very hot and very cold at times, and was very limited in his defensive support at times leaving his fullback exposed. Often too ponderous on the ball, but could then produce a moment of magic to unlock someone else.
Ashford - 7/10. Lots of running, lots of industry from him, but less end result than someone like Willock. Perfect counterpoint to him depending on the game state. Needs a haircut though, badly.
RWs:
Kellyman - 8/10. Other than the period where he was shoehorned up front he has been one of our main attacking threats this season, especially when Tanner was out. Wand of a left foot, but the right leg is only worth for standing on. Would love him back next season.
Tanner - 7/10. A difficult one. Had a wondrous turn of form when he returned from injury but blew hot and cold the rest of the season. For me he doesn't pass the eye test and appears to moan a lot, but can again produce moments of quality out of nowhere. Maybe a harsh grade, but to me I think he's got the tools and the build to be a really serious force in the Championship but does need to work a lot on his defensive support, especially when in front of Kpakio.
STs:
Robinson - 7/10. Harshly done by this season - strange how a backup striker, and probably one of the best strikers in the division total at that didn't get a run in the team when Salech was out. Has definitely lost a yard of pace, but came up with crucial goals for us especially at Stevenage that maintained our form in a rough patch. Also appears to be a phenomenal mentor and great personality to have around the club - definitely want him back next year.
Salech - 8/10. Again a difficult one. On one hand he was getting manhandled left right and centre by opposing centre halves but then also seemed to go down easily in other situations. Had a solid goalscoring return this year, and would've likely broken the 20 goal barrier had Stockport's thuggery not hospitalised him.
Davies - 6/10. Another unfortunate victim of injury and rotation. Often played out of position on the left wing, but did well when he played in his natural position as a striker. Has lost a yard of pace since his injuries but another one definitely worth keeping around.
Manager:
BBM - 9/10. One of the best managers we've had in recent times. Willing to change things up to win a game (for better or worse) but tinkers too much. Club seems revitalised under him, but sometimes sticks with things to start a game that don't work - like the Kellyman/Colwill dual false 9s situation. Even the little things like the warmups are night and day how they were under prior regimes. With a full year behind him and the chances to innovate tactically at the end of the season taken I'm really excited to see what he can do in the summer to take us to the next level.
