Probably not millions. The bigger question is why we are borrowing money at 6% interest off one director, and claiming the owner is the sole creditor.

I think that is a very fair question.

Didn't Dalman make a big song & dance fairly recently about the club only owing money to Tan? Has he forgotten lending the club 37 million quid?

What I can’t quite understand about this, is if Tan is confident of winning the case, why is he risking giving away a substantial percentage of any payout to a third party?

No idea. But by the same token, these boys will have done their own risk analysis and only take on a small number of cases where they feel there is a very strong likelihood that they’d win.
This is all about investment for them, if they felt they’d get a better return on the stock market or other investment vehicles, that’s what they’d do.

Yes it’s gambling, but only if you can see that the deck is stacked in your favour.
