I vaguely remember stories from the early 70s I think it was saying that work on the floodlights through the summer meant that we now had the brightest floodlights in the whole of the Football League. Something like that would be hard to measure as a fan, bur I can't ever recall a time since my first game in 63/64 where I went to the first night game of the season and thought how bright the floodlights were compared to a few months earlier. The floodlights were modified way back when. Originally, they were a full bank of yellow bulbs, but at some point around 1970 those bulbs were replaced by half as many (or less) bright white ones. One of my contemporaries might remember when better than I do

. Must have burnt 150-200 units through lighting alone if that is true, for a 2 hour night match.
