Old currency

Florins were worth two bob and still in circulation around 1967 I think. Doing points on a car brings back memories, I've still got a feeler gauge somewhere.
I never used to wash my feeler gauge when I used it.
I'd smell those fingers for days

:hehe:
Shut up mun you crazy horse.
How is 12 shillings x 2 coming out as 5 shillings

9 1/2 x 2 pence comes out as 1sh 7p
12sh x 2= 24 + 1 carried over is 25 shillings = £1 5sh

What about the groat :hehe:

Just spent 30 mins reading about old currency.
Haven't got a Scooby fucking doo.

What the fuck ? ha'penny, two Bob bits, shilling, crowns , how did you use to manage?

You would have been no good as a look out in Splott for pitch n toss on a Sunday Nugent.

You had to be able to keep one eye on the game with loads of old currency flying about and one eye out for the police, who walked everywhere in those days...
How could you have worked out a six horse shilling each-way accumulator, when only four horses came in as winners.

:hehe:

I can remember the halfpenny, penny, thruppeny bit, sixpence. Don’t think I ever saw a half crown.
Wasn’t a shilling known as a bob? Or 5p?

Ten bob =50p

0/10 for me. forgot to double up the original pound before adding the carried over one. :hide:

That was a party political broadcast on behalf of metric.
