Off-Topic Politics Thread - October 2025

Mashed potatoes used to be advertised by aliens, tea bags by piano carrying chimpanzees, and a serial paedo used to teach us to wear a seat belt. When has advertising been "normal"?

You've admitted you didn't watch the video, yet assumed people are getting offended for the sake of it. In this thread, at least one person seems vexed at there being BAME people in adverts.

The video shows an elected MP, who represents constituents that will be BAME, openly saying she gets angry seeing BAME people in adverts. I think it's rather amusing, that people get angry about such things. Others are angry at her, and maybe you think that's unjustified.

If that's how she feels then she's entitled to voice her opinion, it's her political career and the public will/should decide if what she said was unacceptable.

Sometimes I feel context is lost on people with your views. IMO she was correctly stating that advertising on the whole isn't representing correctly the majority of British families as it currently stands. Is what she says actually wrong or is she telling the truth?

Since when has race trumped the truth?

Race has always been like a fog for the left, it just completely obscures rationality.

They don't appear to be able to have a normal discussion on the topic without having a 'racism' accusation in the barrel, ready to shoot at a moment's notice.

Have a person of colour complain about representation and suddenly they totally understand the point being put forward though.

It's a strange thing, almost as if those quickest to shout the accusation are the ones who are actually racist.

There's certainly a discussion to be had but it's nigh on impossible when the race card is thrown out so aggressively all the time.

The painful human cost is apparent too.

It's taken a couple of decades of conditioning by the media where we are now at the point that merely being accused of being a racist has become such a reputational death sentence that our police, politicians, TV, social and news media stood back whilst thousands of British children were raped and drugged by gangs of a certain demographic, just so nobody accused them of it.

They had no problem arresting girls who reported what had happened to them though.

Now we have every rich and out-of-touch celebrity bending over backwards to signal their "virtues", saying whatever platitudes keeps the work coming in.

Even our own Prime Minister chooses to smear the entire continent of Asia rather than narrow it down to a region, which you could argue is even more racist. I wonder how the Japanese feel about being roped into that?

And sadly these days the racism accusation gets childishly and thoughtlessly thrown around more than ever, usually as a way to prevent someone having a differing opinion.

This clown with the sign getting rejected by the immigrants he was trying to puff off with his virtue signalling :hehe:

Yet again, another class video.
Hes a brilliant creator he is

Out of interest, have I called you a racist? I found it funny that the Right used the race card (again) over something as trivial as advertising a breakfast cereal.

Yeah, again, it's trivial when it's white people with the complaint but I suspect you'd take the same complaint seriously if it were a black person.

Well with the roads, schools and hospitals being so perfect, state of the ark, we need to squander money somewhere.

What views are these then?

Maybe instead of "views" I should have said general attitude.

Your views, I don't know you so it was probably a poor choice of words. Your attitude of superiority on the subject shines through brightly though, another who seems can't answer simple questions.

Just as a point of reminder, the race card was actually played by Reform MP Sarah Pochin.

What, because she had the audacity to mention people of differing races?

If she has a point she feels strongly about how else could she convey her point across?
