Nah. Mankind has always written dark script on light background.

In photographic parlance, light mode is the positive image, dark mode being the strip of negatives whose only use is to produce the positive photograph.

Because white boards and non permanent marker pens hadn't been invented and chalk was in plentiful supply. Pupils always wrote dark on light.
