Football POST MATCH FANS REACTIONS - MANSFIELD

I thought the atmosphere was actually pretty good in the Canton yesterday and I didn't hear the Mansfield fans at all. I was impressed by their turnout though as a long journey and they're pretty mediocre

It's not surprising that away fans make more noise. They're making more of an effort to attend, probably have more booze in them and people tend to stand wherever they want
I'm the Ninian Stand and the Mansfield lot were singing for the majority of the first half and pretty loud , a few few songs from the Canton with some new ones I hadn't heard before but agree away fans treat it as a day out and alcohol fuelled Probly helps .Goals always help to .

Because we're in that twilight area where the squad - especially depth - is too good for League One, but is it good enough for next season.

I agree this season is for getting the formation, tactics approach ironed out but equally at times we've ridden our luck a bit. Trott has been outstanding, but against better quality finishers we'd be punished. If we can start putting teams to the sword, then I think we'll stay up next season in the Champ. In terms of assessing which players are Champ quality, it's difficult to say atm.

It's a complete fresh start and a work in progress. So far it's the "new dawn" that has me more excited than any other over the last decade.

The progression is there to see and I would expect these players to progress further by seasons end

Absolutely agree.

I'm just saying that at this point of the season, I find it difficult to assess where we really are.

The blues are going up and the jacks are going down

Just nice that for the first time in ages we're not just needing in players for the sake of it. Any additions to this current squad should be few but quality and doing it this way shouldn't have an adverse effect on the squad and what they're trying to achieve.

Wow, you're not kidding, the jacks are precariously close to the drop zone

Yeah, definitely need to be a culture fit and definitely need to be Championship quality.

For me, priorities have to be: :-

Signing Trott permanently.
Striker - Salech, behind him Robinson in 30s, Davies, Pearce, there's little depth imo.
Wingers - we lack true pace and crossing, Tanner and Nyakuhwa aside.
DM - Wintle has been playing well, but our game relies more upon finesse than anything else - we need a physical D who can play the ball.
Backup LB - Bagan imo has had a solid season, is good enough for Championship but since the development of youngsters at LB seems to have stymied (Giles not seeming to have kicked on), we need a backup LB to push Bagan.

Things you love to see. Hope throwing away a two goal lead has undermined their new manager

They have an unfortunate habit of escaping trouble though. The new coach might give them the boost they need.
So did we until we didn't. New manager didn't do much for them yesterday. Don't really know what's going on there but from the outside they look in a similar mess to the one we've been in until this season's reset

If ever there was a time to have a bloody good December, now is that time.

We got Stevenage twice, Huddersfield, Lincoln, Doncaster and Exeter. Looking at the table as it stands there's a real opportunity to put us in a very good looking position at the turn of the year, 14 points from these games would give us all a very enjoyable Xmas.

Stevenage 2nd in table
Huddersfield 8th
Lincoln 4th
Doncaster 14th
Exeter 20th

Decent spread, you'd hope we'd be going all out to beat Stevenage twice.

As a side note, with all the Steve's we have on this forum you could say we have a high rate of Stevenage even before we get to December ROFL
