Hindsight is a wonderful thing but initial reports seemed to suggest that the injury wasn't too bad.

I think what was originally said that it wasn't as serious as it might have seemed at the time. A whiplash type injury takes months to recover from and I didn't expect to see him again this season and that was without any psychological fall out from the trauma.
