Having a conversation = getting knickers in a twist

Exactly

Just because someone gets offended about a film that's not aimed at them, that nobody is forcing them to watch, that they wouldn't dream of watcing and would have paid no attention to under normal circumstances, based on the skin colour of a cast member, it doesn't mean their knickers are in a twist. Especially if only 20 or so other versions of the story had already been fimed, in case they wanted to watch someone with a skin colour more to their choosing.

I get offended or pissed off more accurately at loads of the erosion things that aren't directly aimed at me.

Sometimes there's just no sense of reason to them

You said you read the thread so you should know it's not just about this one film though.

Are you getting your knickers in a twist by engaging? How does that work?

At least we're having a positive and productive discussion with reasoned debate.

If Desert Orchid played Black Beauty in a film, I'd be bemused. I think Ben Kingsley can play Ghandi no problem, but if Denzil Washington tried it wouldn't work so well. I wouldn't mind if a white guy played Al Jolson in a film, but no white guy could really play Stevie Wonder. Like a lot of things, common sense should prevail, Snow White was called thus due to her skin being 'white as snow', and I do understand artistic licence, and interpretations, but wouldn't it just be simpler to have someone who fits the bill in the lead role. I believe the dwarfs used were CGI (Computer Generated Images), why not use real 'dwarf's' or 'magical creatures' as Disney have reclassified them....world's gone mental.

I might cancel my Disney subscription as a result of their snowflakery

They're doing it for two reasons - to tap into a demographic they've struggled with and to get loads of free publicity. Getting exactly what they want

It's a wonder they used dwarves mind.

I'm just having a bit of fun really.

I know it's not just about this one film, in fact I'm sure we've been round the houses at least twice before on this topic. Last time, from memory, you were upset about a version of Robin Hood none of us would otherwise have even heard of and absoutely none of us were forced to watch.

So you engaging in the conversation is just you having a bit of fun, but if someone with a different opinion does the same they are "upset" and "getting their knickers in a twist"

And it was called Robin and the Hoods, a play on words and had absolutely nothing to do with the Sherriff of Nottingham's thorn in the side.

By the way, I don't recall that whatsoever.

Yep

It think it was actually one of the right wing media types that saw the title of the film and a picture of Robin and went off on a sweaty rant without even looking up what the film was about.

Think people just take it as accepted now

I just did a search and it turns out it was Woody that brought up the Robin Hood thing, I never commented on it at all, never mind being "upset" about it.

Just shows what goes in in people's mind when these topics get discussed, they think just by talking about it we're foaming at the mouth and banging the keyboard with a hammer.

Bit of projection I reckon.

Yeah well I remember well how you kicked your knickers into a tight twist when they remade the Italian Job and ruined that, you knicker twister.

This might not have happened exactly as described
