I'm a bit late to this thread, so apologies if this has already been posted, but spend many a happy Sunday evening here in my youth

That was my penny-for-the-guy spot when I was a kid, and I was known to have a drink in there later

That's the Wynford in Riverside, proper grab a slag place.

A mate of mine was a taxi driver in the 90's.
He told me a story which he swore was true -
He had a pickup for four mature ladies (cough) fairly early one Saturday evening going to the Wynford as his last job of a Saturday 'day' shift.

He said that all the way they were being very flirty with him, teasing him and saying that he was quite fit etc, and more double entendres than Benny Hill.
He soon noticed that one in the back really was a bit of a looker. They started exchanging glances in the rear view mirror and this went on and on until they got to the Wynford.
When they got out having paid, the other two girls said to the other , who was still sat in the back - 'hey c'mon girl, lets go'.
'Aww, I dun need to bother goin in there now babes', she says - 'I'm going home with Drive' .

Me and a couple of mates went there one night and my one mate had an affliction, a nervous tick which meant he would twitch quite violently every few seconds . We hadn't even had a drink and the doorman said he's not coming in he's pissed out of his head. After some explaining he finally let our mate in. Once in we went up to these three birds to chat them up, our mate walked up to this one bird, twitched, and she immediately started dancing thinking that's what he was doing, I was on the floor laughing.

Proper scrumpy house that was. The landlord wouldn't let you take your pint of scrumpy into the lounge because he said it would dissolve the carpet

Cardiff bus still call the bus stop The Carpenters Arms, I get off at that stop sometimes and the women says “the next stop is the Carpenters Arms” I bet it confuses visitors
