Just got told that the Royal oak in Whitchurch is gone, anyone know if that's true? Liked that pub when Leighton and Sandra had it.

I remember back last year I think it shut all of a sudden without notice, but I understand its open again now unless history has repeated its-self recently

Spot on mate. Pub co had a dispute with the tenant over renewing the lease. All sorted out after a Mexican standoff for a couple of months. Same happened with the Heathcock but Tom and Sarah from the Hare and Hounds Aberthin took it on to make it a Gastro pub. Top chef that lad

Every time I have to squeeze past someone with a pram on the tiny pavement in front of that pub I wonder how the fuck they were allowed to occupy so much of the pavement with that "beer garden".

Seriously, how is it allowed? People have to step into the road to get past each other.
My mother shops in the village and she moans her backside off about the same thing....and theres me thinking it was moaning for the sake of it....I guess not!
:hehe:

It's a genuine thing. You literally see people stepping into the road because of that beer garden. It's bizarre, it leaves about a metre of pavement in a busy part of the village. You're forever squeezing past pushchairs, wheelchairs and elderly people.

Is that the pub in Aberthin that used to do proper Welsh breakfasts with the cockles and laverbread? lovely food. I know there's two pubs opposite each other there, can't remember which one's which.

Was that before or after they had The Gunners?
