According to the excellent Not the Top 20 podcast who have done their mid season predictions, both the pundits have us relegated. It’s hard to argue with what they say, especially George Elik.
Ali - “I'm pretty low on Cardiff. It is right now, I think the performance levels have been relatively poor, especially away from home for quite a long time.
They're currently in the relegation zone. And when you consider the managerial changes that have been made by other clubs, you look at whether it's Ruben Sellers coming into Hull. I definitely think we'll turn that around now.
We also know we're going to be aggressive in this window and other ones. With Cardiff, it doesn't really feel like it's had the necessary impact. Whether there'll be another one, we'll have to see.
But I kind of feel like maybe the managers you want for this task are kind of being snapped up elsewhere. And I just haven't seen the improvement needed yet in order to suggest they're going to get out of it.”
George - “I don't think they can get above three teams. I've got Cardiff going down like yourself. I think that the Chickens come home to roost now for Cardiff.
I've talked at length for two years now. I think the bottom of the championship is getting stronger because I think clubs decision making is better. The decisions they make in recruitment and squad building and managerial hires, the level has improved significantly and Cardiff haven't moved with it.
Consistently poor decision making in terms of managerial decisions and squad building and their ownership makes poor decisions in my opinion. I'd expect them to make another managerial change and I wouldn't bet on them getting it right. I've got Cardiff to go down in the bottom three and I've got Derby to go down with them.”
