Should go back to the 24 team format and roughly distributed as it was before. Confacaf is a shit region and has loads of spaces. Winner of Oceania should be forced to beat a good team to qualify like when they'd go up against the South American team who didn't quite make it when qualifying was difficult. There will be so many undercooked teams in this WC bit they will be charging high end cup final prices for shit group games where two thirds of sides will qualify. Quite a few will be uncompetitive or dead rubbers.

I've nothing against the occasional joint hosting but this one is ridiculous. I also don't mind the occasional new territory getting the WC but from 2018 to 2026 it looks dodgy as fuck as does Saudi having it pretty soon after Qatar

I read an article the other day showing how far fans would have to travel. It’s absolutely mental.

IF we get there we’ll have our first game in Toronto.

From there we then go to LA - a mere 2500 miles away. To put that into context a flight from Cardiff to Toronto is 3400 miles.

Then our final match is in Seattle. Good news here as it’s only just over 1000 miles away.

Nobody expects to get tickets to World Cup finals for a tenner but charging thousands of pounds is nothing but a piss take. Especially when the money ends up in the pockets of corrupt wankers rather than being put back into grass roots football.

FIFA I believe though I don't know that for a fact. I think it's not an unreasonable assumption the stadiums were picked on the basis of backhanders and being able to 'justify' charging more as they're not as basic as the University stadia

Those stadiums are incredible but always look tightly packed. From what I gather they're full mostly of students and not your 'average' American and all that entails.

College sports players do seem exploited in America. Yes, they get scholarships but they generate massive profits and don't seemingly get recompensed much.

It always used to be the money from American Football at that level went straight to the colleges - so sporting directors, head coaches highly paid. You had things like college football video games using imagery to top college players whilst not paying them a penny - hence a lot of dodginess went round to ensure top kids got paid illegally. Now that's loosened up a lot. Take any benefit in kind, your college career gone whilst others raked it in.

Glad to hear they're reforming it. Watched a documentary about a guy who was a bona fide star in college basketball but turned to match fixing as he was barely getting by.

There's a lot of things wrong with college sport. need to be 3 years or so since leaving high school before you can play in NFL; argument has been that forces kids to have to play college football, but equally the other argument is it gives bodies time to develop in a contact sport.
The downside to things opening up is there are now a lot more transfers between colleges than there ever were, bigger programmes able to splash the cash on players.
