A Moment of Reflection.....

Not my most favourite...but he did well in his career and (more importantly) still doing well.......a great moment of reflection:

You don't punch from the arm or even the shoulder. You punch from the foot. The wave of movement travels from the toe, through the foot, knee, hip and chest, sears up the arm, forearm, wrist and finally into the knuckles.
Then the index knuckle and middle knuckle are the two which need to connect. These two knuckles flow from a direct line straight up your arm. The other knuckles don't have the same support, so if you connect badly with the other two you are likely to hurt your hand.
Sometimes you connect correctly with the two correct knuckles and that is the perfect punch. When that happens they just go. Lights out - good night Charlie.
If that is done correctly, which is hard enough, you then have to complete the procedure, which involves getting your fist back into the correct position by your chin, your body is pulled back into form and you are ready to go again.
If you can do that meticulously, you will have probably taken two or three years to master it - and now you know just one punch.'

the Pinky and ring finger knuckle for me.....maybe that is where it went wrong for me :)

If Calzaghe was boxing in my front garden I’d close the curtains. Liked his early stuff, some close fights with Eubanks and Reid, some say he was fortunate to get the Reid decision, others say Reid was robbed, but once his hands went and he become a slapper he bored me. Only a handful top class victories on that 46-0 record. It’s not like he was fighting the best fight after fight after fight like the generation before him. Collins, Eubanks, Benn, Watson.etc all fighting each other multiple times too.

I must live a very boring life (I do)....I could never say Joe bored me.....edge of the seat praying his hand dont give in....yes....hand smashed in then watch him throw a punch with it.....yes.....but bore me.....never.
i always worried when he put his gloves down and stick his chin out to taunt his opponent. like you said he was never boring to watch

One of those highly polarizing characters....without, the world would likely be very different (and possibly not as comfortable)..........

"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every every opportunity; a optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty."

Not bad for an "english as a second language" guy:

Don't be afraid to take a big step if one is indicated. You can't cross a chasm in two small jumps.
