The truth is the social contract is broken. When I was growing up I can clearly remember the teacher saying in school we'd have more time to enjoy the fruits of our labour as automation took the drudgery of work away. Lol.

I remember thinking yes when I'm old I'll be able to put my feet up. I will have done my graft. That's not the deal is it? It hasn't been for years here. We will work until we're broken before we'll get any of our own money back.

Credit to the French. They're having none of it. I'm sure a few of the wealthy there are all for it. I imagine nearly all the British living over there in retirement are right up for it. They'd be well happy for the rest of the countru to graft more. The man in the street though he knows they're taking the piss.
