Got one in my job. So my beneficiary gets 50 hot steamy greasy turds, becasue thats what I get paid in, because I work in a sewer and they actually don't pay me at all but they kindly let me keep what I find.
Sorry to hear that mate.
Although it does explain you looking nothing like my Brookside hero.
You lying bastard
I probably used the wrong word but that's what I was trying to get at when I used accrual - i.e. it's worth more the longer you're in it
No, mine aintIs it age related though
Are you implying that someone is daft enough to employ you ?No, mine aint
Strangely, never been unemployed, fortunately. Jan 28th this year was 40 years since I started. Are you implying that someone is daft enough to employ you ?

No sick leave in forty years is pretty remarkable tbf. I average less than a day a year which I think is quite good but you get no recognition or thanks for itStrangely, never been unemployed, fortunately. Jan 28th this year was 40 years since I started.
Also, superbly fortunate to have never been on sick leave.

You're absolutely right - provided you don't hit thresholds nobody even cares and you can't see sick records for new staff until you've employed them.If you're sick, take sick leave. No one's gonna come knocking on your door to thank you for your attendance a[UWSL]fter you retire/leave. [/UWSL]
[UWSL]Lopk after yourself - I don't just mean by resting when you're unwell, but by taking what you're entitled to as they will certainly be getting what they want from you.[/UWSL]

It annoys me there is no thanks/reward for a good sickness record but some of that is down to luck and it could create some unwelcome and damaging behaviours if they did.
I used to work in a place where the lads on the shop floor had a great ruse.Yeah exactly. I once worked with someone who took the piss as they knew the rules inside out and the absolute minimum they had to turn up to work for, and how to get signed off. This kind of person is the exception.
Most people don't like taking time off when they're ill; you feel a bit guilty and that they all think you're a skiver. But you get no prizes for hauling your ass in.
I know people who are workaholics, spend their evenings and weekends doing things that they don't really need to be doing. When their kids are grown up, those kids will remember that, but not a single person in their company will.

Factoring overtime into sick pay calculations does seem pretty naive tbfI used to work in a place where the lads on the shop floor had a great ruse.
Work all the overtime they could, then go sick for a week, with full pay PLUS the calculation of the overtime they missed out on by being sick.
Unsurprisingly the company no longer exists.

Use to be thanked for no sick leave. Then asked to remember those not as fortunate/ healthy.![]()

That's inevitable though isn't it?Funnily enough, those of us who are (or were in my case) self employed take far fewer sick days than employees.
To be fair, who’s gonna tell HR?Funnily enough, those of us who are (or were in my case) self employed take far fewer sick days than employees.
But why? Are self employed people more healthy than employees? That's inevitable though isn't it?
