But why? Are self employed people more healthy than employees?
No, but if fraudulent they're only robbing themselves. If in two minds you're going to think differently if it impacts your bottom line. Just human nature.

Which is another way of saying that employees take sick days when it's not strictly necessary.

I was employed for a few years and there was always office talk towards the end of the financial year as to how many uncertified sick days people had left.

Another frightening statistic is how often people fall ill over the weekend and call in sick on Monday morning, compared to the rest of the week.

No wonder the country's gone :hehe:

Yes and no. People definitely take sick days when they shouldn't with a proportion entirely fraudulent but there will also be self employed people working when they really shouldn't.

Yes, seen those stats before but any good manager should be looking for and challenging patterns of suspicious absence.

No sick leave in forty years is pretty remarkable tbf. I average less than a day a year which I think is quite good but you get no recognition or thanks for it

I think no days off in 7 years. Had 2 days off with bad stomach pains, 1 week off with flu and nothing else touch wood. That's in nearly 30 years. Can't stand the ones who always call in sick.

Some people are sickly but some people are clearly soft or pisstakers

Some employees. Not all. Self employed builders skulking off at 3 after showing up at 10 and having an hour off for lunch, and fag breaks. Self employed decorators who don't show up on Friday because they're feeling a bit poorly. A lot of self employed folks also take the piss.
