Nikolaos Karydas is set to be named Erol Bulut's assistant manager at Cardiff City

Eagle-eyed Cardiff City fans thought they spotted a member of Bulut's new backroom staff during Wales' 4-2 defeat by Armenia on Friday night. The camera panned to Bulut in the stands, chatting away to a man donning a baseball cap in the stands.

And that indeed was 'Nikos' Karydas, who was Bulut's fitness coach at Gaziantep. The pair met when Karydas was fitness coach at Olympiacos during Bulut's playing days there.

However, he will take on the role of assistant manager at Cardiff - not fitness coach. It is understood he will be the club's new assistant, 'with a focus on performance' - which is presumably what chairman Mehmet Dalman was alluding to when he said a new performance coach was arriving.

Karydas was most recently caretaker manager at Greek club Veria NPS for three games at the end of the 2022/23 season.

An announcement on the full backroom team is expected soon.

Welcome Niko, hopefully you are a success as our new manager oh uh assistant...assistant manager.

What about Sol?

So when are these exciting signings being announced that will sell 6,000 more season tickets? It’s been a couple of weeks since Dalman came out with that bollocks.

And after the performances by the national team over the past week (and before), would the signing of Aaron Ramsey really create such a buzz around the club? I’m doubtful.

You'd like to think that Bulut would know how to utilise players better than Page but yeah, bit of a letdown since they "let slip" there was big announcements coming.

Just seems like it was a Dalman tactic to sell STs now. Unless they were just waiting for the end of the international window before making announcements.

I’m a huge fan of Ramsey, I just don’t think he’d have a huge impact these days.

I agree but in the right environment he should do well.
Massive gulf in international level and championship expecially when you are not playing in a good international side.

No signings yet and for 8/10 to come in and gel he better get a move on ffs. Bulut out.

Unless a player/club has agreed to end contract early, most don't end until the 30th of this month, so we cannot sign them or announce them until after their contract/s have ended, so unless it's a loan player, we have to wait for any announcements until then, I guess:shrug2:

We'll wait until the last minute to sign players and then make excuses when it goes tits up :

'We have to wait for these new players to gel..'
'Don't forget these players didn't have a full pre-season to get up to speed...'

Same shit, different season. :hehe:

Not true you can sign players on a free before their contracts end.
We just haven’t signed anybody.

That depends on the club they are at, they could be hoping they re sign for them, yes it is possible, but to say its not true is bending it a bit:shrug2:, as the rules state" may be eligible " in certain situations, a club that wants a player, put a " tempter" offer to the players club, in the hope of unsettling the player, in the hope he won't sign a new contract, not always black& white in the shady world of signing a player.

No it’s completely not true. You can sign pre contract agreements with another club when there is six months left on a contract if you’re signing for a team in another country or if your signing for another team in the same country you can do it if there is less then one month left on a contract.
