But how is the problem of immigration being delt with by denying foreign nationals a benefit they've more than likely earnt due to having paid tax in the UK?

It's not addressing a problem, it's setting fire to something that isn't one to keep people angry about something else.
It doesn’t matter.

Its all part of the whole immigration debate. The fact that it’s not really true doesn’t matter because everyone has now picked a side and it’s all about cementing your position - which is exactly what you do when you label everyone on the right as a gammon thicko - and they respond with lefty footwasher. And so it continues….

Anyway I’m off to cut my grass in the blistering heat.

Hopefully I’ll get at a tan and qualify for a free telly and car.

I don't tbh, just the people Rupert and his type target who are too thick to find out the truth.

Happy to lump those that do know the truth but are happy enough to go along with it so long as it confirms their prejudices though. :hehe:

All part of the plan Gareth.

As long as we’re all squabbling with each other over left and right then nobody’s looking at the real culprits. Incredible to think that social media has been engineered to create a whole generation of thickos who are completely unable to see where the blame actually lies.

Sympathetic to refugees - you’re a wokey lefty paedo sympathiser who should have one in your spare room.
Worried about immigration - you’re a thicko far right Nazi who wants to see them all drown in the sea.

Ultimately if governments wanted to deal with the issue then they could. Very easily. But they don’t. Because then it creates a convenient distraction from just how shit things are in this country for a lot of people and who is really responsible.

Over the years we’ve had black people, dole bums, single mothers, benefit cheats etc etc. - all used as a convenient scapegoat.

I guarantee that if people turned their social media outrage towards the politicians things would get sorted pretty sharpish.

Woah, woah, woah.

Enough of this common sense, already.

And what have you done with Dr Lecter...

:sherlock:

And here’s another one.

Doing exactly what they want you to do.

Ultimately some people are concerned about immigration. Some of those people simply won’t like brown people because they smell and talk funny. But not all. Some will be regular folk who don’t believe they’re racist but are concerned by whats going on. When they see thousands of young undocumented males taking over hotels up and down the country then they’re probably wondering why we’re allowing it to happen. Calling these people thick racists doesn’t do anything other than alienate the, and push them further to the right - usually on the basis that they feel that’s the only one’s listening.

Question for you: Do you have any concerns about immigration? Any at all?

I've said plenty of times that immigration is too high. But, I know that the problem isn't the people arriving in boats who end up in the system quickly but take ages to process.

The problem is the 10s of thousands who come for 2 weeks and stay for years, the students who crash out of college then claim asylum, the people who arrive on family visas, then split up.

Immigration is a problem, yes. It's not in the top 5 problems this country has though which include

Millions on the sick
Low growth
Lack of investment in kids
Running down the NHS
Having too few police
Having too weak an army.

I've posted plenty of facts about how the immigration system works, how it should work, and how asylum seekers are not illegal migrants. I think it's only right to call out the bull. It won't sway the people who are in their echo cham ers, but it does add balance for those of us unlucky enough to find ourselves in these echo chambers.

It's an old bit of advice but if a politicians points at something and calls it the problem, then there's a very strong chance you're bring distracted

Thing is though, calling everyone who has concerns about immigration gammon, thickos etc. makes you no different to the Nuggles of this world.

The reality is that plenty of people will have concerns. Maybe lumping everyone in with Rupert and Nigel simply pushes them towards them? Maybe instead of assuming everyone who has concerns is a thicko how about having a debate about it and answer why you think it’s not a problem? Maybe realise that shouting people down about their concerns makes it easy for people like Tommy Robinson to spread his bullshit when he claims he’s being silenced.

Or just carry on, and do exaclty what extremists on either side are hoping you’ll do.
Good points well made.

Not everyone who has concerns over immigration is a raving racist.

I have no problem with people who have genuine concerns. The ones I have a problem with are the racist ones, who lap up as gospel whatever racist bullshit Nige and Tommeh dish up, with no fact checking, no Analysis, no original thought of their own.
