I do actually.
The better of the two evils. Better the devil you know etc.
There are centuries and generations of knowledge and philosophy behind those two phrases and there are just as many reasons for that.
Although my thinking recently is that we are fucked by the two horse system, all ends up. And it's nothing to do with red or blue, left or right.
Exactly as it is in America. It's all a facade.
My feeling is that Labour get in, raise taxes to raise public spending and we all feel the social benefits for a while, then the Tories come in and hoover up said public wealth extractions (aka 'Austerity') and remove them offshore to who knows who, and off we all go again.
But each time significantly diminishing the wealth (and health) of the country (and I mean the UK there).
You can make your own minds up on who actually controls the creation and flow of money. There are plenty of juicy options floating around.
'Just follow the money" is the only constant I've found to be true in my 49 years of all this bollox.
What's your answer to it all Steve?
I believe the country is on the road to bankruptcy if we are not careful mike and i point the finger at all the governments for the past 30 years who have all played a part. As your point above it is a merry go round where labour do exactly what you say above and then when the fall out happens they are slung in to the wilderness and in come the Tories to hoover up although we both know that wont happen this time.
I have had my business for 27 years mike and i employ 40 people who all pay into the pot. my company pays employers NI on top of their Ni and contributes towards their pension pots.
The NI hike on employers has meant that i have put my costs up to cover the increase and as i do a lot for the NHS in Wales obviously their funds available to improve the service will get smaller as obviously all suppliers to them will do the same.
all the supermarkets and the haulage contractors who fill their shelves will have passed these costs on to the consumer as we can see most days when we shop.
the hospitality sector was struggling enough but that hike has meant more pubs are closing on a weekly basis.
375k jobs are forecast to have been lost in this year by the ONS and vacancies that were high have disappeared as nobody wants to take anyone on at the minute.
Skilled labour in this country is at an all time low apprenticeship's are few and far between and the kids today don't want to go on site and get their hands dirty anyway because unlike probably us who came home from school and kicked a football until dark they are straight up the stairs to the computer or Play station.
Covid played a huge part where lots of office staff have continued to stay at home and so city centres have lost that footfall and the income they brought to shops etc.
I think we are to late for a reset Mike that ship has sailed so we will continue to get one incompetent government replaced by another incompetent government until the lid gets screwed down.
