Rats

They are clever buggers too. I don't have a big problem but my house backs onto the woods. I also got a stone wall in the garden. They live in there which I don't mind so much as they don't come the house but I occasionally set the trap to keep the numbers under control. I occasionally see a rat and have caught 2 over the last 10 years or so. Horrible things. I use peanut butter in the traps but Ive been told anchovies/sardines is also a good bait as the smell attracts them.

There are plenty of cats in the street and they are always shitting on my lawn but they seem to well fed and tame to bother the rats.

I hate rats. Contributed towards a breakdown of a relationship and me ending up back here in Wales, having been in a house that was over-run with them (the rest of the house couldn't care less of the infestation). They were on the dining table feasting on anything that was left on there, or could be sat watching TV of an evening and coming less than 2ft from my head etc.

If they're about during the daytime, then that's a serious issue, as they've set up home, with one or more nests inside. They're pretty sensitive to any changes in the environment, so traps and poisons take a while to work, and then there's the joy of disposing of the dead ones.

Taken one morning from the kitchen window whilst waiting for the kettle to boil. The thing was bigger than a pet rabbit. Got into the bird ground-feeder and gorged so much, it was too fat to get back out

I think it’s a bit of a misconception that rats are clever. Let’s face it, they spend the majority of their time swimming around in shit and eating other people’s thrown away crap and avoiding being eaten by cats and dogs. I reckon rats are thick. Siberian hamsters on the other side....

This is what I had to live in, and why the rats felt so at home :nope:

I like the flowers on the dining room table. :hehe:

Really nice addition to the room.

Makes it look like someone saw the mess, and had a brilliant idea: pot of flowers right there. "Perfect. The guests will love it".

Thought the model boat in the bathroom was a nice touch too :hehe:

Rats everywhere :nope::hehe:

Much as I am not a fan of cats, one would soon sort out your problem. Alternatively a Jack Russell.

Seriously though, what a nightmare. Good luck. :thumbup:

Certainly wouldn’t recommend Jack Russell’s. We had a rat living in our garden about 3 years ago, our 2 Jacks were bloody useless.. the only way they would have caught it was if the rat jumped into their mouths

tbh your right hamish mine doesn't bother with cats or anything apart from her ball so rats i expect is a no no :hehe:

Caught a massive f***er in a trap today. Halfway between squirrel-size and a guinea pig.

Melted cheese in a trap works a charm.
