I don’t get the whole love of embroidered badges. They look decent when brand new but after a few washes end up pulling the shirt fabric and looking misshapen. I much prefer the glued on felty feel badges of the 80s and 90s.

You're washing them on too high a temperature. 30 degrees and you'll be good.

For embroidery yes. Iron on patches can tolerate 40°C I believe on a quick wash.
