I'm assuming The Koran doesn't count? I'm surprised by how many people never read, I buy so many books, have even unwittingly bought the same book twice, keep finding books I can't remember buying, I've got more unread books than read ones, my wife goes mad. Reading a lot of biographies, autobiographies at the moment, especially about music, one of my passions, got Soul Deep about the Style Council and The Drums by Mike Joyce of The Smiths on the go at the moment. Read a lot of environmental, wildlife books too. Used to read hundreds of novels, not so much these days. Keep promising myself no more books until I get rid of the backlog, but no can do. Think some of the books will go unread forever.![]()
New poll finds 40% of Britons have not read a book in the past year
The median British adult has read or listened to three books in the past 12 months with reading habits also split along gender, class and political divideswww.theguardian.com
We gave up buying physical books about 10 years ago as we had acquired so many. When we first came over here I used to order whole series of novels from Awesomebooks and crash through them. We had enough to put an English language book exchange in the local bistrot when TDA Jnr was running it.I'm assuming The Koran doesn't count? I tried the Kindle route for a while, but it's not the same. Trouble is I'm reluctant to get rid of the ones I've read, telling the wife I'll 'read it again one day' which is highly doubtful. We gave up buying physical books about 10 years ago as we had acquired so many. Eventually we donated a whole cubic metre trailer load and about half as much again in the back of the estate car to the local dog rescue charity centre.
Since then, it has been Kindle all the way. Not the same as a book, but more convenient.

Only read a few chapters, still an Irish lad growing up in a tough Manchester, easy read, I'm finding it enjoyable, from reviews I gather there's no dirty laundry, perhaps leaving the door open, more of a love letter to The Smiths.Whats the Mike Joyce book like? Did you go to an evening with Mick Joyce in the Gate, Roath earlier this month? I had tickets but ended up being awayOnly read a few chapters, still an Irish lad growing up in a tough Manchester, easy read, I'm finding it enjoyable, from reviews I gather there's no dirty laundry, perhaps leaving the door open, more of a love letter to The Smiths.
No, never knew it was on, last evening with I attended was Kevin Rowland in Abergavenny, thoroughly enjoyed that. So much more to him than 'Come On Eileen'.Did you go to an evening with Mick Joyce in the Gate, Roath earlier this month? I had tickets but ended up being away
