Football After this season's accomplishments, where does BBM rank in the list of City managers?

Maybe, maybe not.

Teams will just low block, look to counter having seen it work against us in League One. We need to adapt at times - hopefully, this season will have been just getting the basics in place, next season opening things up.
Every team in the championship thinks they can do you. They never really come for a point. They come for all 3. Fancy our chances in any game like that.

Bit early to be making those kind of comparisons but I’d certainly argue that he’s done more, with less resources, than any other manager in my lifetime.
Would you say even more than in the 90s when we didn't have a pot to piss in though, or even the likes of Lennie Lawrence when we went up to the Championship originally though?

I think like you say it's definitely early to judge on a few things like whether his relative (to recent years) lack of activity/confusing activity in both transfer windows he's had so far has been down to financial considerations alone or if he's ridiculously picky about who he brings in to the club, but I think a season is a good enough of a baseline to see how he responds to adversity or how he does when all is going well.

For me I'd rather have BBM and the culture and tactics he's set since he arrived here (even with bugger all money) than some of the managers we've had and given ridiculous budgets to in the past.

14 points from 30 isn’t bad.
Considering Bolton was a last minute winner and Lincoln are the complete kryptonite to us the way we play (and the unbelievable form they've had this season) I don't think 14 from 30 is that bad at all.

I think this team as is (operating on the presumption of a fit Salech and loanees/bosmans returning) is more than good enough for a top half finish next year.

We've undoubtedly had a very strong League One squad this year, but before this season kicked off we were all rightly worried about the proposed reliance on youth - we've been very lucky the youth turned out to be as good as they did.

Is that however a mark against BBM or is it a positive that he's been able to extract so much from developing players? Especially considering our not insignificant injury woes this season.

I think players just enjoy playing for him and that's huge in itself.

Lot of good experienced players in League 1 and our lads have done themselves proud, especially after the first few games, they toughened up a lot.

He's just done exactly what's required with absolutely no financial backing. Last manager I can remember doing that was Burrows.

Yes players have singed new contract which obviously cost a few bob what with agent fees and signing on fees, increase in wage bill etc but thats just protecting your investment.

We've pissed the league deep down for fuck all.

Aye Lincoln have won it but they know exactly how to do it. Been trying for years. What we have done is different and hopefully will stand us in good stead.

That's a fair point. The Port Vale game was making it look like we'd get bullied a lot and it might be a long depressing season. They adapted well and quite quickly to the physicality. Trott looked shaky and a poor signing crowbarred into the team in that game - luckily he turned that around almost instantly.

It's easy to say someone's a good manager when all's going well I'd say - but the way he's managed games when we've been behind has been impressive IMO. Definitely willing to go for it more and play with two at the back which wouldn't have happened at all under other managers we've had.

None of that shite Riza style 8ATB on the 60th minute to try and scrape a point which has been refreshing to see.

The league will suit him even better next year I reckon. I mean who knows but all the best football sides we've faced we've opened em up. I don necessarily mean the top 6 I mean anyone that fancies a game. More clubs like that in the championship. Its probably the best division in Europe for a game of football. Quality is unreal without all the bollocks.

Could defo go either way but mission achieved and he's earned a chance to show what he can do next season. I reckon we're destined for midtabble but how comfortable it is will depend on how well backed he is.
Another promotion

On a serious note at times this season it's been very frustrating but i find our style of football like that anyway . As frustrating as Jones was i much prefered our style of play under him
