Today, FIFA ordered Cardiff City FC to pay the 2nd and 3rd instalments of the transfer fee for Emiliano Sala to FC Nantes as expected.

Yesterday the CEO of FC Nantes, Franck Kita, was placed into police custody alongside Bakari Sanogo and Joaquim Batica by the JIRS, French prosecutors specialised in organised crime and financial crime. A judicial investigation was opened in June 2022 on the counts of ‘illegal exercise of sports agent activity, forgery and use of forgery, misuse of corporate assets, laundering of aggravated tax evasion and organised money laundering’. The Club's negligence claim in France against FC Nantes exhibits direct exchanges showing Mr Kita was informing Mr Sanogo of the proposed transfer fee for Emiliano Sala. It is not clear why.
In the circumstances, the Club considers that it would have been fairer if the requirement to pay FC Nantes had been deferred until the conclusion of the French police investigations and the club's claim against FC Nantes in the French courts.

Other than the payments bit, no idea if any of that has anything to do with us but hey, if it's muddying the waters

Also maybe explains the share issue thing the other day if we been ordered to pay both installments

Seems weird that we have to pay money to an organisation with senior officers being investigated for crimes related to organised and /or financial crime, especially as we have a strong argument they were more responsible than us for his tragic demise and it was never clear cut he was our player.

It would explain why Tan and the club would have gone after Nantes the way they have - I've little doubt some of these charges may well related to Sala given the light the club has shone on the dodgness.

If so, maybe some of those in the media and indeed our own fans who have castgatyted Tan over this might instead applaud him for doing so even if we lose the civil cases?

More than four and a half years after the accidental death of Emiliano Sala in a plane crash, the Cardiff club was ordered to pay the full transfer to FC Nantes.

This is probably the epilogue of a sad affair, FIFA decided this Friday to order the Cardiff club to pay 11 million euros to FC Nantes to settle the transfer of Emiliano Sala. In the 2018 winter transfer window, the Canaries had pushed for the Argentine striker to join the Welsh club then in the Premier League. It was while joining his new team that the player had been the victim of a plane crash, a case that earned a lawsuit in England. On the side of Cardiff, we refused to pay the full price of the transfer, contesting the total agreement with the club of Waldemar Kita. Since this tragedy, the two clubs clashed, but this Friday the International Football Federation (FIFA) whistled the end of the match. The body has indeed confirmed that the transfer had been signed two days before the plane crash, and that the Welsh team therefore had to pay the 11ME expected during the operation

The lawyers of FC Nantes have confirmed to L’Equipe this decision by FIFA. ” “The club is thus confirmed in its rights. He hopes that after four years of procedure, Cardiff City will finally respect its financial commitments and stop its procedural harassment. FC Nantes is eager to definitively close the legal aspect of this tragic accident, “say Masters Jerome Marsaudon and Louis-Marie Absil. In a press release, the Cardiff club was surprised that FIFA decided this Friday to agree with FC Nantes when Franck Kita was placed in police custody this week and that elements of this file directly concerned the transfer of ‘Emiliano Sala in Cardiff.

It's not surprised Nantes are eager to "definitively close the legal aspect".

Sadly for them, it isn't.

Two dodgy agents and a dodgy club director in the shit and it would beggar belief if this transer wasn't the catalyst given all three of them were involved.

That’s Fifa for you

Yeah, let's just leave it there and not talk about our culpability, greed and corruption.

They being advised by senior Tory politicians?
Sorry Pointy couldn't resist:hehe:

This is big and looks like Tan maybe had a case after all to take it to the courts. I guess maybe this is what is causing delay on signings.

Watch this space, we'll be taking FIFA to court next

I might have stretched th definitino of "recent", but to be fair I am old and a decade ago seems recent...

Seems like lucky Joe got away with it.

Nah, we'd have no case against FIFA.

Nantes though, that case will be interesting with these new developments and it really wouldn't surprise me if Nantes now attempt to settle out of court. If Tan then holds his nerves, a massive can of worms will be opened.
