"Near enough done"

He’s played a total of Six professional games and been out injured since March.
Lawlor had played one Championship game and one FA Cup game for us prior to this season and yet was still the most promising prospect our academy had produced in years.

Not playing first team professional games at the age of 19 is not an issue, especially when your clubs are Villa and Chelsea.

Spot on.

If we were getting a player who had only played 6 games for a lower bottom half Championship team, then maybe a cause for worry.

Chelsea and Villa are two teams with stacked midfields, no shame as a 19 year old not being able to break into the first team squad there.

We are also League One.

We aren’t a massive pull to players.

Chelsea paying £19m for him says something about his potential. He'll probably be worth £35m when BBM has finished with him.

Dunno why we aren't a massive pull when we are the greatest team in football the world has ever seen

Although I do think BBM and his youth first approach is critical in us even being considered for these youngsters.

Not that he isn't a highly promising youngster (because he is) but that fee was also vastly inflated and was in the summer of prem clubs selling their second and third most valuable homegrown youngsters to each other at ridiculous prices to balance the books in PSR - as a sale hits the books for its full incoming cash value immediately whereas a purchase is divvied up over a number of years. If you're right in the hole like Villa it was better to receive £19m on this year's books for FFP purposes and then sign someone for £19m over four years giving them a £4.75m/year outgoings but a near £15m free cash hit this year.

That may be true, but a £1.9m player at L1 level would be a bit of a coup for most clubs, let alone £19m. If this and the Wilson-Esbrand loan come off, it's one hell of a window for City. No doubt our flying start to the season has added substance to BBM's reputation for utilising youth.

If I remember rightly, there was a bit of agro around the deal. Chelsea and Villa inflating the values or something like that.

Still be a great addition for us in L1

I absolutely agree.

I wasn't too enamoured with JW-E when he played with us a couple of years ago, but that was at a higher division and a fair bit earlier in his development. Hopefully he's developed a bit more since then - and that we have a somewhat realistic purchase option a la Trott.

Don’t take any notice of that fee they were all cooking the books for FFP.

I’m not saying he’s going to be a bad signing I just can’t see him being much better than Tanner has been. He’s just not going to be this massive wonder kid signing most people think IMO.

Osho transfer is the coup of the century still to be fair.
